Construction will soon begin to expand the Elma Public Library building, now that a firm was awarded the project. The work could be done before the year ends, and will increase the library’s size by 1,200 square feet.

Daley is a relentless doer who has remade Chicago’s landscape, but he leaves some unfinished business: the Chicago Spire, an incomplete Block 37, empty land that was to be the site of the athletes’ village for the 2016 Olympics, unbuilt runways at O’Hare.
